Another nuclear power plant is planned to be built near the town of Orbita in Cherkasy region.

This was reported in «Energoatom».

It is indicated that deputies of the Chyhyryn City Council voted to grant permission for the transfer of 38.1493 hectares of land for the construction and development of the project. Four power units are to be built there.

The construction of the new NPP will take place within the energy strategy of Ukraine for the period until 2050. According to it, the capacity of domestic nuclear generation should increase.

The head of «Energoatom» Petro Kotin adds that the plan is to revive the town, making it one of the most modern «like Netishyn, Yuzhnoukrainsk or Varash», where other Ukrainian nuclear power plants are located.

It should be noted that the city of Orbita was planned to be built for the workers of the future Chyhyryn NPP in the 1970s. However, after the accident at the Chornobyl NPP, the construction project was closed.

Earlier it was reported that Russian shelling damaged the external overhead line through which Zaporizhzhia NPP received power from the Ukrainian power system for its own needs.

We will also remind you that the Ukrenergo repair crews have restored the reliability of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
