According to The Economist and GlobeScan survey, 54% of foreigners support Ukraine's victory in the war against Russia, while 20% support Russia. 30,000 people from 29 countries and Hong Kong participated in the study.
This is reported by nv.ua.
The highest support for Ukraine was expressed in Europe, as well as US allies such as South Korea and Japan. In addition, pro-Ukrainian sentiment prevails in some developing countries, including Brazil, Mexico, and South Africa.
The Economist noted that although the governments of Brazil and South Africa support diplomatic relations with Russia, polls have shown that public opinion in these countries is more inclined to support Ukraine.
«However, our survey shows that even if the politicians of these countries indulge Russia, their voters are much less sympathetic to it. Hong Kong, which is ruled by communists, was resolutely pro-Ukrainian,» the journalists emphasized.
Russia gained support in five major countries: Egypt, India, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam. Support for Russia among Indian and Vietnamese respondents is due to historical ties from the Cold War era and dependence on Russian weapons.
Thus, in Saudi Arabia, 37% of those polled are on the side of the Kremlin, although the country has close relations with the United States. At the same time, in Egypt, 49% of respondents support Russia, despite significant military aid from the United States.
Studies have also shown that all five countries that support Russia want the victory of the candidate of the Republican Party, Donald Trump, in the US presidential elections.
An earlier poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology showed that 63% of Ukrainians are ready to endure the war as long as it takes.
We will remind that the survey showed that 38% of Ukrainians believe that the West is getting tired of providing aid to Ukraine, but 54% of Ukrainians believe that the West supports the desire to end the war on terms that will be acceptable to Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that according to the survey, Ukrainians have different forecasts regarding the duration of the war. 57% think that the conflict will continue for a long time, and 14% hope that it will end within 6-12 months.
We will remind you that the data of the study also show that the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to have high trust among citizens and occupy the first place in the corresponding rating. They are trusted by almost all residents of the country.
