Fourteen more medical institutions are to be built in shelters in Kherson region by the end of 2025.
This was announced at a press conference by the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, according to the local media outlet «Most».
According to him, such underground hospitals will be located not only in Kherson but also in the communities of the region.
«We have now developed design solutions for fourteen hospitals, and together with state support, we will definitely implement this», said Oleksandr Prokudin.
It should be noted that as of February, seven underground hospitals have been set up on the right bank of the Kherson region. They carry out surgeries and resuscitation and treat infectious patients. In total, there are 135 healthcare facilities in the region. 18 hospitals have inpatient departments.
Earlier it was reported that more than 700 doctors and 1,600 healthcare workers work in Kherson Oblast's healthcare facilities. However, there is a shortage of neuro- and vascular surgeons, traumatologists, and anaesthetists in the region.
As a reminder, in January 2024, Russians shelled a hospital in Kherson, injuring three medical workers and another person. One of the medical facilities was also damaged in February last year.
