Farmers of Mykolaiv region sowed more than 73 thousand hectares of fields

As of 4 April this year, the agrarians of Mykolaiv region have already sown 73.6 thou hectares of spring grains and pulses.

This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

Barley occupies the largest area of sowing in the region — 42 thousand hectares. There are also 26.5 thousand hectares of peas, 4.5 thousand hectares of spring wheat and about 600 hectares of oats.

Spring sowing is underway in all regions of the country. In total, over 926 thousand hectares of spring grains and pulses have been sown.

In 2025, Ukraine plans to plant more than 5.7 million hectares of spring crops. The season will feature an increase in spring wheat acreage by 28% compared to 2024. This is due to stable demand from exporters and processing companies.

Ukraine has also started sowing sunflower on 33 thousand hectares, sugar beet on 64.8 thousand hectares, and soybeans on 2.6 thousand hectares.

In 2025, Mykolaiv region farmers plan to plant 100,000 more hectares of crops thanks to the de-mined areas.

And farmers from Kherson region plan to sow about 220,000 hectares of de-occupied land this year.
