The reconstruction of residential buildings damaged by shelling will remain a key priority for the Mykolaiv Department of Housing and Communal Services in 2026.
This was stated by the director of the Mykolaiv Housing and Utilities Department, Dmytro Bezdolnyi, during a briefing today, 22 January, according to NikVesti.
In total, in 2025, the department conducted 42 inspections of buildings damaged by Russian armed aggression.

«First of all, it is important to understand that even despite poor funding this year, we are shifting our focus slightly to the opportunities provided by international cooperation,» explained Dmytro Bezdolnyi.

This list includes at least four buildings that already have project and cost estimate documentation.
We would like to remind you that recently, the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, stated that he expects the World Bank to finance the reconstruction of 54 high-rise residential buildings under the Hope project after the project documentation has been developed.

What about the restoration of buildings in Mykolaiv?
In 2024, it was planned to spend 45 million hryvnias from the Mykolaiv budget on the restoration of damaged or destroyed apartment buildings, but in 2023, 40 million hryvnias were allocated for this purpose.
The first high-rise building in Mykolaiv damaged by shelling began to be restored at the expense of the city budget in July 2023. This is the building on Krylova Street, which was hit by a Russian rocket in the summer of 2022.
At the end of the year, the Housing and Utilities Department of the Mykolaiv City Council reported that four residential apartment buildings damaged by Russian shelling had been completely renovated in 2023.
After that, the Department of Housing and Communal Services announced a tender for the restoration of a five-storey building in the centre of Mykolaiv, which was destroyed by a Russian missile in the autumn of 2022. Later, NikVesti showed how the restoration process was progressing.
And in April 2024, the Department of Housing and Communal Services announced another tender for the major renovation of a high-rise building at 132 Kosmonavtiv Street in Mykolaiv. Three more buildings awaiting reconstruction are located at 2 Aliaudy Street, 61 Raiduzhna Street, and 142 B Kosmonavtiv Street.
At the same time, the city council supported the allocation of funds from the Mykolaiv budget for technical inspection of private houses damaged by the war.

In total, since the start of the full-scale war, 9.2 million hryvnias from the Mykolaiv budget has been spent on developing projects to rebuild 32 apartment buildings.
