Even after the active phase of the war ends, the threat of repeated Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure will remain, so society must be prepared and prepare future generations for life in conditions of possible power, heat and water supply outages.

This was stated by Olha Babii, advisor to the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, in an interview with «KShDU Media».

According to her, as long as Ukraine has a neighbour like Russia, the risk of attacks on its critical infrastructure will not disappear even if the hostilities end.

«We have a long marathon ahead of us. Even if the active phase of the war ends, even if certain borders are established and the missiles stop flying, the threat will remain. It will continue as long as we have such a neighbour,» Olha Babii emphasised.

She stressed that Ukrainians need to change their approach to security and prepare not only themselves but also future generations for the new realities.

«We must learn ourselves and teach our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to live in conditions where electricity, heat or water can disappear at any moment. This is our new life, these are our new rules,» said the adviser to the NSDC secretary.

Olha Babii also emphasised the importance of social unity in such critical times. According to her, residents of peaceful regions should pay attention and be aware of the challenges faced daily by frontline cities such as Chernihiv, Sumy, Odesa, Dnipro and others, which regularly suffer from shelling, blackouts and interruptions in heating and water supply.

Earlier, Olha Babii stated that power restrictions in Ukraine would remain in place for a long time, regardless of whether there would be rocket attacks from Russia or not.
