Mykolaivvodokanal is seeking a contractor to repair a damaged section of the culvert in Soliany for ₴1.2 million

In Mykolaiv, there are plans to repair a damaged section of the culvert across the Ingul River. The cost of this work is preliminarily estimated at 1.2 million hryvnias.

This is according to data from the Prozorro public procurement system, as reported by NikVesti.

The client for the works is the municipal enterprise Mykolaivvodokanal. According to the tender documentation, the contractor must complete the works by 30 May 2026.

The section on the source of funding states that the 1.2 million hryvnias for repairing part of the culvert is charitable aid funded by the state or regional budget. The tender title, however, states that this currently involves the «implementation of a temporary solution».

Accident on the culvert in Solyana. What is known?

Due to the accident on the culvert on 11 January 2026, the water supply was cut off in the Soliany, Pivnichnyi and Ternivka neighbourhoods. As a result, more than 40,000 residents were left without water.

It transpired that the emergency culvert across the Inhul River had not been repaired due to a lack of funds and the absence of an «extreme need». Mykolaivvodokanal clarified that , as the culvert’s service life had already expired, this was not a matter of routine maintenance.

Subsequently, emergency works were carried out in the city of to clear the old pipe, which lies at a depth of around 10 metres beneath a layer of silt. Emergency works on the culvert were completed in January 2026. Around 1 million hryvnias were spent on the repair works.

In contrast, the full reconstruction of the new culvert across the Inhul River is estimated to cost almost 47 million hryvnias.
