In Mykolaiv, around 40 buildings that have protected status and are cultural heritage sites have been damaged during the full-scale war.

This was reported by Yurii Liubarov, head of the Mykolaiv Department of Culture, during a live broadcast on Facebook, according to NikVesti.

According to him, no new damage to cultural heritage sites as a result of shelling in Mykolaiv has been recorded in 2026. At the same time, work is continuing on the restoration of previously damaged buildings.

In particular, in collaboration with the Agency for Cultural Resilience, emergency and urgent conservation work has been completed on an architectural monument of local significance — a residential building from the late 19th to early 20th century at 41/3 Admiralska Street.

«This is a building that was damaged during the shelling. The necessary surveys were carried out there, damaged structures were dismantled, a temporary roof was installed, waterproofing was carried out, materials were treated with fire protection, windows were sealed, and walls were reinforced with metal ties. All work was carried out using grant funds,» said Yurii Liubarov.

He added that restoration work is also underway on the Mariinskyi Gymnasium — a monument of local architectural significance. The work is being carried out with the support of the Danish government, UNOPS Ukraine and partners from Eastern Europe.

In addition, the city is monitoring the repairs of damaged monuments, which are being restored by the Department of Housing and Communal Services. These include buildings on Velyka Morska, Spaska, Falieievska and Arkasivska streets. The Department of Cultural Heritage is overseeing this work.

It should be noted that six new cultural heritage sites have been prepared for registration in Mykolaiv. These include three monuments and three mosaic panels.
