United States President Donald Trump does not oppose the deployment of European armed forces in Ukraine for a peacekeeping mission.

He said this during a conversation with journalists in Mar-a-Lago, according to «European Truth».

Donald Trump noted that the deployment of European troops in Ukraine «would be great».

«If they (Europeans, — note) want to do it, then it's great. I am in favour of it. If they want to do it. I think it would be great», the American president said.

He also noted that if a peace agreement is signed, American troops will not be sent to Ukraine.

«But the deployment of (European) troops there would be great. I would not object to that», Donald Trump added.

As a reminder, Russian-American talks ended in Riyadh on 18 February. The parties agreed on a three-stage peace plan for Ukraine. Ukraine was not involved in the meeting.

On the same day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he would postpone his visit to Saudi Arabia because of the talks between Russia and the United States in Riyadh.

Commenting on Ukraine's absence from the meeting in Saudi Arabia, US President Donald Trump said that it «should not have started» the war, and that peace could have been negotiated in three years.
