There are no plans to complete the trolleybus line in the Korabelny district of Mykolaiv, as there is no longer any need for it.
This was announced during a briefing on Thursday, 22 January, by Artem Sapozhnyk, deputy director of the Mykolaiv Housing and Utilities Department, according to NikVesti.
According to him, the trolleybus line construction project was implemented in stages. The first phase of work was completed before the start of the full-scale invasion and put into operation. After that, the city launched autonomous trolleybuses on this route, which made it possible to provide transport connections without completing the entire line.
In this regard, the official noted that the city authorities decided not to spend additional funds on the completion of the facility.
«The work that was done before the full-scale invasion. We adjusted the project based on the work that had been done and put it into operation. That is, we divided it into stages. This was the first stage, and we put it into operation. Why did we do this? In order to transfer the completed work to the relevant municipal enterprises. We are transferring it and will not continue to implement it, because there is no longer a need for it. That is, Mykolaivelektrotrans will continue to deal with these issues. Currently, the work that has been done has been put into operation,» explained Artem Sapozhnyk.
He added that all the work completed earlier has been officially put into operation, and further maintenance will be carried out by specialised utility companies.
At the same time, Deputy Director of the Housing and Utilities Department Ihor Nabatov said that Mykolaivelektrotrans is currently working with the international humanitarian organisation DRC on a project to build a charging substation in the Korabelnyi district, which should ensure the stable operation of electric transport.
We would like to remind you that in Mykolaiv, in the event of prolonged power outages in remote areas, trolleybuses will be charged from generators, and if necessary, some of the transport will be provided by buses.
According to the municipal enterprise Mykolaivelektrotrans, electric transport in the city is operating in a limited mode due to emergency and hourly power outages.
The situation with electricity supply in the Mykolaiv region remains difficult. Residents should be prepared for the worst-case scenario — up to two hours of electricity per day.
Trolleybus line in the Korabelnyi district
Construction of the trolleybus line in the Korabelnyi district began in 2020. It was planned that the new trolleybus line, more than 8 kilometres long, would run from the bus station to the Zhukovske ring. The route was planned to have 16 new stops and 240 modern streetlights.
A contract worth 47.1 million hryvnias was signed with SvitloLux-Elektromontazh LLC, which undertook to complete the work by 15 December 2021. As part of the construction of the trolleybus line to the Korabelnyi district, the contractor installed supports from the bus station to Avanhardna Street.
However, in 2021, the work slowed down, and by the end of the year, the contract with the contractor was terminated. At that point, 17.4 million hryvnias of the planned 47 million had been spent.
It was decided to revive this idea in 2024. In a comment to NikVesti, the director of the municipal enterprise Mykolaivelektrotrans, Yurii Smetana, previously said that all work, including the purchase of the contact network and preparation of the territory, is planned to be completed in 2025.
It later became known that the project for the construction of a trolleybus line in the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv should be developed by 15 March 2025.
We would like to remind you that in October 2024, autonomous trolleybuses began operating in the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv. Six units are currently operating on the route, and their number will be increased if necessary.
