On the night of March 5, naval drones attacked the ship «Sergei Kotov» of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, which was based in the occupied Crimea.

This was reported by Russian propagandists and so-called «warlords».

In particular, «warrior» Oleksandr Kots wrote that Ukraine had not attacked this ship for the first time, but the Russians managed to repulse previous attacks.

«But, unfortunately, the enemy is also evolving. It is reported that last night it (the ship, note) again fought off the BEKs (unmanned boats, note). The crew fought heroically to the last. This can be seen from the published video. But this time it is a story without a happy ending,» the Russian propagandist wrote.

Later, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense officially confirmed the damage. The mission took place in cooperation with the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and with the support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

As a result of the strike by Magura V5 marine drones, the ship of the project suffered damage to the stern, right and left sides, the MDI reported.

The fire damage occurred in the territorial waters of Ukraine, near the Kerch Strait.

The cost of the sunken ship is about 65 million dollars.

«Sergei Kotov» is a project 22160 «Vasilii Bykov» type patrol ship. 4 ships of this project have been built in Russia, 2 more are allegedly under construction. The ships are equipped with guided missile weapons of the near and far sea zone.

We will remind that in 2022 Ukraine destroyed a ship of this type. In March, the Naval Forces of Ukraine managed to sink the Russian patrol ship project 22160 «Vasilii Bykov» near Odessa.
