Holding presidential, parliamentary and local elections in Ukraine could cost around 20 billion hryvnias.

This was stated by Deputy Head of the Central Election Commission Serhiy Dubovyk in an interview with «RBC-Ukraine».

According to him, the bulk of the costs — about 70% — are the salaries of employees of district, precinct and territorial election commissions.

Dubovyk notes that previously, parliamentary and local election campaigns cost the CEC an average of 4-5 billion hryvnias. Presidential elections are more expensive: about 4-5 billion hryvnias for the first round and up to 6.5-7 billion hryvnias for the second round.

These amounts do not take into account the costs of local governments for the preparation of polling stations, premises for commissions and their maintenance. According to Serhii Dubovyk, approximately the same amount of money may be needed for these purposes.

As of now, according to the CEC's forecasts, about 16.5 billion hryvnias is needed for all three types of elections. However, taking into account inflation and the costs of local communities, the total amount may increase to around 20 billion hryvnias.

«This is a rough estimate, but it is a real figure — and it is no lower than that», he said.

The CEC also noted that there are currently just over a hundred polling stations at diplomatic and consular missions abroad. Given the available opportunities, their number can be tripled, but this requires changes to the legislation.

Earlier, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Serhii Dubovyk said that Ukraine needs at least six months to prepare for safe and fair elections in line with international standards.

As a reminder, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow was ready to consider a possible ceasefire on election day in Ukraine.
