Oleksii Vaskov, deputy mayor of Ochakiv, is surprised that the city council sessions in Mykolaiv are held online. In his opinion, this is a manifestation of the deputies' disrespect for their own elections.

The vice mayor reminded that since the beginning of the full-scale war, city council sessions in frontline Ochakiv have been held only offline. Unlike Mykolaiv, where city council sessions are held online.

Under such circumstances, says Oleksii Vaskov, it would be advisable «to introduce a city military administration» in Mykolaiv.

«We have never had an offline session, unlike the deputies of the Mykolaiv City Council. It is such a disrespect to their voters to sit abroad and solve city issues. In my opinion, if this is the case, it would be advisable to introduce a city military administration. If local self-government works in this format in a city that is no longer in the war zone. Why do we have a meeting of deputies, but not there? Even though we are in an active war zone. We work here because people elected us. I believe that the deputies of the regional and city councils who are meeting online today are simply showing disrespect for their residents who are in the city,» said Oleksii Vaskov.

As a reminder, the sessions of Mykolaiv city and regional councils are currently held online. Over the past four years, members of the regional council have met offline only a few times, including in November 2024, May 2025 and October 2025.

The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, believes that holding sessions online has not affected the work of the city council.

Recently, it became known that the city council has not shown the faces of its deputies for two months as a confirmation of their personal presence at the meetings of the sessions, which have been held via video conferencing for four years.

Following this, Ukrainian blogger and author of the telegram channel «Lachen writes» Ihor Lachenkov called on Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych to hold a city council meeting offline.
